Paris (Enrichment Week 2016)

Early on Monday 4 July, 35 intrepid new Year 9s and Year 10s set off to Paris for five days with Mrs Parker, Mr Lay, Miss Alvey and Miss Rubringer.

While on this trip they had two days in the city of Paris, visiting the Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower, taking a boat ride on the River Seine, attending a cinema film about the history of the city, going round the Notre Dame Cathedral and Sacre Coeur in Montmartre, visiting the artists in the Place du Tertre (and for a few, getting their own portrait done), and seeing the works of art in the Musee D’Orsay. In addition, a lot of ice cream was eaten in Montmartre and in the Jardin de Tuilleries.

Our group stayed in a specialist hostel outside of Paris with large social spaces, both inside and outdoors. The highlight of the week for many was the day in Disneyland Paris, where pupils went on many rides and were there to see the Grand Parade before returning to the hostel.

Jacob said that ‘Paris is a wonderful place with great weather, nice people and Disney!’ Emily said ‘I had an amazing time in Paris, I have never been before so it was a new experience and I enjoyed it very much. My favourite was the boat tour, Disney and the Notre Dame. I had fun at all the places and I would definitely come back again’. Courtnay said ‘I enjoyed going to Paris as the experience was really good and it was a great way of meeting new people from school and getting a better knowledge of Paris’.

Trip leader Mrs Parker said that it was a really good trip, the pupils were really well behaved and that is what makes it all work so well.
