Open Events Booking
Year 6 pupils and parents only: new 'Out of Hours' Open Events in September/October 2020
Unfortunately owing to COVID-19 and the measures we have put in place to minimise risk, we have been, and are still, unable to welcome prospective pupils and their parents to visit Deer Park during the school day for our usual September Open Mornings, or for our Open Evening.
However, we recognise the transition to secondary school is a big step and we are keen to continue to help families make informed choices about their children’s future education.
Out of Hours Tours (Year 6 Only)
We are offering parents of pupils who are now in Year 6, the opportunity to book an ‘out of hours’ tour of the school for themselves and their Year 6 pupil with a senior member of staff. Each tour will last approximately 50 minutes, and must run to time, to ensure we are ready for the next slot. These tours will be available starting on the hour as shown below, on the following dates.
- Monday 14 September - all slots now fully booked
- Tuesday 15 September - all slots now fully booked
- Wednesday 23 September - all slots now fully booked
- Saturday 26 September - all slots now fully booked
- Monday 5 October - all slots now fully booked
- Tuesday 6 October - all slots now fully booked
- Wednesday 14 October - all slots now fully booked
- Saturday 17 October - all slots now fully booked.
Owing to the current restrictions in place and to aid our planning, these tours MUST BE PRE-BOOKED and are for YEAR 6 pupils and their parents ONLY. To make a booking, please email Allison Boucher, Head’s PA and Admissions Secretary - A.Boucher@deerparkschool.net - to reserve a date and time slot. You will need to provide the following information within your email to complete your booking:
You will receive email confirmation of your tour and parents/pupils cannot attend without a confirmed booking. |
Each guide will be able to take up to 6 people from 2 or 3 different families on tour at one time. Regrettably we will be unable to include younger or older siblings on the tours. Information about the logistics of your tour including parking information and the steps you will need to take to help us ensure everyone’s safety, will be provided by email once the date and time for your tour has been confirmed. Please note, all adults will be asked to wear a face covering during the tours.
We appreciate that seeing the school ‘out of hours’ will be a very different experience to our normal open events, which focus on our pupils’ learning and their engagement and feature presentations, opportunities for family learning and hands-on practical activities. However, I am grateful to our faculty teams who have thought of new and creative ways to share the essence of life and learning at Deer Park with you during your tour!
Year 5 pupils and parents will, hopefully, have their opportunity to visit us for our Year 5 Open Mornings in June/July 2021.
Virtual Open Evening (All parents/pupils)
In addition to offering you one of our ‘out of hours’ tours, we also invite you to attend our VIRTUAL OPEN EVENING in MS Teams. This live streamed event will take place on Tuesday 29 September 2020 at 6pm. It will also be recorded for those who are unable to join us on the evening. We are looking forward to hosting this event and sharing our vision for all of our pupils. Information on how to access this event, either live, or subsequently as a recording, will be available from our Admissions page.
Please follow this link:
Virtual Open Evening on Tuesday 29 September. The event starts at 6pm.
You do not have to have downloaded the MS Teams App to access this event or sign in – you can simply opt to ‘watch on the web instead’ and ‘join anonymously’. For any parents unable to attend ‘live’, we hope to record the event and make it available.
Explore our website
To further inform your planning and decision making, we encourage you to explore our website, especially the Latest News, which highlights many of our pupils’ experiences and what we have been able to achieve together before, during and after lockdown. We are immensely proud of the commitment of our staff, our rich and diverse provision and our pupils’ achievements.
Talk with others
We also encourage you to talk to people in the local community who are already connected with the school as parents, pupils, members of our local governing body or staff, who can provide first-hand experience of all that Deer Park can offer. We have been inundated with positive feedback and praise for our provision for our pupils during lockdown, from both an educational and pastoral perspective, as well as for the plans we have put in place to ensure their safe return to school.
Admissions
We recognise that not everyone will want to visit Cirencester Deer Park School in person in the Autumn Term, especially if they are already familiar with the school through older siblings. Therefore, we will ensure you will be able to find information about joining our school on our Admissions page. For example, prospective pupils and their parents will be able to:
- Listen to Chiquita Henson, Headteacher, introduce you to Cirencester Deer Park School;
- Watch pupils Simeon and Kabila on a ‘guided tour’ of the school recorded during lockdown;
- Explore the school for yourselves remotely using Google ‘Street View.
We look forward to receiving your email booking and welcoming you to one of our ‘out of hours’ tours, and to seeing your presence at our Virtual Open Evening on Tuesday 29 September at 6pm. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Allison Boucher on 01285 646558 or by email to A.Boucher@deerparkschool.net. |
