Roald Dahl Day 2019
Celebrating the world renowned and well-loved author Roald Dahl.
While unlucky for some, Friday 13th at Deer Park in 2019 meant only one thing: Roald Dahl Day. The annual tradition of dressing up as beloved characters, taking part in numerous fun activities and just generally parading around the school in silly costumes has become a firm favourite amongst members of the English Faculty and the Librarians (the pupils enjoy it too!) over the years and birthday number 103 certainly didn't disappoint.
Coincidentally, the day happened to coincide with a visit from the current crop of trainee teachers embarking on the GITEP programme. There were some bewildered yet excited faces as they toured classrooms only to find themselves confronted with fantastic foxes and tumultuous twits leading the lessons. A glimpse of their future? Certainly here at Deer Park it is.
It was clear that our new intake of Year 7s were blown away by what they saw. It was heartwarming to see them enthused so early on in their five year journey here at Deer Park and, as always, we look forward to sharing their journey and seeing the bright young people they will become during their time with us.
Our Librarians, Mrs Bond and Ms Hill, had sent out Golden Tickets, inviting all our Year 7s to a special lunchtime gathering in The PLC (our library), and pupils had the opportunity to take part in a numerous Roald Dahl themed activities, as well as purchasing cakes!
