On Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 July 2019 we welcomed over 90 families to our final Year 5 Open Mornings of this term. Over 7 weeks we have invited prospective Year 5 pupils and their parents from our local and out of area primary schools to our bespoke Open Mornings. This has presented opportunities for nearly 280 prospective families to come and get a real “Deer Park” experience.

Pupils and parents enjoyed the opportunity for family learning by taking part in a variety of taster lessons across the curriculum. One parent commented on the level of challenge in their English lessons, while another reflected on their use of a new language in their Spanish lesson.

Our Year 9 and Year 10 tour guides were paired with each visiting family and took them on a tour of the school. The feedback from parents about these tours and the quality of the guides was outstanding.

Mr Johnson, Head of School commented “The nice thing about our Year 5 Open Mornings is that prospective parents and pupils get to see how the school works on a normal day and share in the Deer Park “buzz”. I am particularly in awe of our pupil guides; they are so proud of their school it shines through in every tour they do which means they present themselves at what we know them to be - the very best thing about Deer Park.” Prospective pupils thoroughly enjoyed their experiences. When asked what the enjoyed the most, answers ranged from the Drama studios and PE facilities to the Science labs and the PLC.
