Primary Sport Indoor Athletics
Year 3 and Year 4 Indoor Athletics
On Monday 19 November 2018, Cirencester Deer Park School hosted an Indoor Athletics event for pupils in Year 3 and Year 4 from some of our local primary schools.
Young Leader Ethan (Year 9) writes: It was an awesome event to attend! Chesterton, Powell’s, Stratton, Kemble, Sapperton and Siddington Primary Schools took part in this high energy evening which saw pupils doing the following activities: 5 Strides (taking 5 paces), Ball Throw, Long Jump, Running Relay, Javelin, Speed Bounce (how many times you can jump to and fro, from a small ledge in a certain amount of time) and Obstacle Relay (speed bounce, ladders, tunnel).
Mr Cumming, PE Teacher and Deer Park Primary Sports Coordinator, commented: “The performance of the Year 3 and Year 4 pupils was to a very high standard. It was a really competitive event, well organised by our Year 9 Young Leaders.”
The noise was captivating and the cheering brilliant. The Sports Hall was buzzing from start to finish. All the events had consistent streams of people all throughout the night. The Young Leaders did a great job!
Primary school pupils' comments included: “I really enjoyed the event today” (Chesterton); “When I was running, the cheering really encouraged me” (Sapperton); "The cheering was so loud!” (Siddington)
Year 9 Young Leader Alex said: “It was such an amazing and inspirational event in which everyone from all the schools took part.“
The next Primary Schools event at Deer Park is Year 5 and 6 Indoor Athletics on Monday 3 December, 4.00-5.30pm, the same day as our Festive Fiesta (see below). Follow our PE Faculty on Twitter: @CDPSsport
