Computing and Business
Computing and Business Faculty in Focus
This year’s Computing and Business Faculty in Focus, taking place in May/June 2018, comes at a very exciting time. After the half term break, our new school building opens its doors and it incorporates two new computer suites. As a faculty we are very much looking forward to the move and the fantastic facilities on offer to our pupils and staff.
Upon our return in June, we will be launching a new version of our annual quiz, Net Quest. This is a series of 40 web-based puzzles linked to technology and business. In previous years this has been really popular with a huge number of pupils getting involved across the year groups. Prizes will be awarded to the first teams to complete the levels in each year group.
Assemblies during week commencing Monday 20 May 2018 are focusing on predictions for the future. We are looking at some of the predictions that past ‘experts’ have made and thinking about what might come next. Interestingly, Artificial Intelligence is in the news this week as a potential way to diagnose cancer, see BBC News story. We are encouraging pupils to think about ways that technology could make the world a better place. We are asking pupils for their predictions for the future with a focus on ideas that might help solve problems, either on a small scale or larger global issues.
Look out for more details in June.
