A huge thank you to all of our Readathon pupils who this year raised an incredible £3,500 between them for Read for Good. 2018 is the 4th year that we have run the popular sponsored read, Readathon, when a group of pupils spend the day off timetable and reading for fun all day in the PLC, our school library.

Read for Good’s vision is "for all children in the UK to be given the opportunity, space and motivation to develop their own love of reading, benefiting them throughout their lives – for good." The money raised for Read for Good helps to get new books and storytellers to children in hospitals all over the UK.  So not only do our young people have an enjoyable day of reading, they also helps other young people at the same time.

Originally our two Readathons were scheduled for Thursday 1 and Friday 2 March 2018. However, the 'Beast from the East' disrupted those plans as school closed early on Thursday 1 March and was closed on Friday 2 March. Year 7 pupils carried on their reading at home that day as the snowstorm blew in. Our rescheduled second Readathon, for pupils in Years 8, 9 and 10, took place on Thursday 8 March.

Our top individual fundraisers received a thank you on 19 April 2018. Well done everyone, you should be really proud of your fundraising which will help other young people and will also benefit our pupils as the PLC will receive new books.
