It was lovely to welcome our Class of 2017 back to Deer Park on Thursday 9 November for our annual Key Stage 4 Celebration of Achievement Evening. This year group achieved some outstanding results in the summer, collectively achieving 70% 5 or more ‘standard’ passes in their GCSEs (A*-C including English and Maths 9-4), and for many their individual performances were especially noteworthy.

Following nominations from teachers in recognition of effort, improvement and academic achievements, 78 prizes were awarded. The evening is a great opportunity for a reunion and many parents and former pupils spoke very fondly of their time at Deer Park. 

Our guest speaker this year was former pupil Jordan Weaving, British National Championship Motorcycle Rider. We are very grateful to Jordan for sharing his successes and his stories of the hard work behind the scenes to achieve his dream. 

Miss Brace, Assistant Headteacher, commented “It was a privilege to host this evening and see so many of our Class of 2017 again.  The evening was full of fond memories and it is always a lovely event.” 

We are proud to have been able to share in your successes over the 5 years you were with us and pleased to be able to provide support to you at times of crisis or disappointment. We watched you grow as learners and young adults and we got to know some of you even better as we nurtured good learning habits and supported you through the trials and pitfalls of adolescence.  Members of staff listened to your hopes and aspirations for the future and saw you take on responsibilities beyond your experiences as pupils at Cirencester Deer Park School.  I hope you will continue to develop the essential life and transferrable skills that will ensure you can thrive and make positive contributions to the communities in which you live, learn, work and play.
