Sing into Spring
30 Key Stage 3 Deer Park Singers took part in a Cirencester cluster singing project at Paternoster School on Wednesday 29 March, singing alongside pupils from Paternoster School and Stratton Primary.
This Sing into Spring event was brought to us by Gloucestershire Music and led by Liz Terry, a renowned vocal leader for Gloucestershire with The Music Works. The event involved the singers learning ten songs, all with a positive vibe and meaning to them, with a mix of two- and three-part harmonies. Deer Park pupils also showed their talents with performances of two of their own songs, ‘Viva La Vida’ and ‘Have a Little Faith’, which were composed by six Year 9 pupils. You will be able to catch these performances again at the MaDD evening on Thursday 4 May!
“It was a really fun afternoon. We got to meet students and staff from both schools and everyone complimented our singing. The songs we learnt were really fun to sing and it was great being able to add sign language to some of the songs.” Tiffany, Year 8
“This was my first performance with Deer Park Singers and I really enjoyed the opportunity. In addition to writing and performing our own songs, it was great to see the audience enjoying themselves and tapping their feet to the beat.” Philippa, Year 9
Our pupils received many positive comments from audience members and staff at Paternoster School, who are keen for us to return in the near future for more collaborative musical opportunities. Deer Park Music teacher Miss Faux is really proud of our pupils for all the extra hard work they have put in to this event and for representing the school excellently.
