Spring Clean
Help @KeepBritainTidy by supporting the Great British Spring Clean #GBSpringClean. Your chance to be the hero you always wanted to be!
The Great British Spring Clean is a campaign with one simple ambition: to bring together people across the country to clear up the litter that blights towns, villages, countryside and coastline. It takes place 3-5 March this year and is supported by TV naturalist and writer Steve Backshall, the BAFTA Award-winning Deadly 60 presenter.
The campaign is backed by charities such as the RSPCA, the Marine Conservation Society, RSPB, Campaign to Protect Rural England and various businesses. How can YOU get involved? How can you and your children help? See if there is a clear up event near you.
At Deer Park we will be carrying out our own spring clean with the help of Key Stage 3 Global Citizenship classes and a programme starting with a presentation through tutor time on this Keep Britain Tidy campaign. Our original plan to spring clean with pupils around the school site on Friday 3 March was unfortunately postponed due to heavy rain! We are looking for a alternative suitable date.
Keep Britain Tidy is a leading environmental charity, inspiring people to be litter-free, to waste less and to live more. Big Tidy Up is England’s biggest litter pick, aiming to get everyone out and about cleaning up their community. |
Assistant Head Miss Brace recently had a meeting with the School Council to discuss litter in school and a campaign to take forward: “I was impressed by the passion with which our School Council discussed the topic of rubbish and their ideas and strategies to move forward. I want to look closely at the recycling that we do in school and how we can increase this.”
We will keep you updated.
Fly-tipping has been in the news recently, as apparently the number of incidents rose for the third year in a row (Read more...). Keep Britain Tidy will be running a #CrimeNotToCare campaign - your rubbish is your responsibility.
