Celebrating our Class of 2024
Class of 2024 : Celebration of Achievement
On Thursday 14 November 2024, we were delighted to welcome our Class of 2024 back to Deer Park for the annual Key Stage 4 Celebration of Achievement Evening and to help them celebrate their GCSE successes.
Although some time has passed since they were last in our Main Hall, for their results in the summer, those former pupils who returned to school for this celebratory evening seemed over the moon to be back and share their experiences with their peers. We were joined on stage by Cllr Sarah Orr, Mayor of Cirencester and Deer Park alumna, and Rachel Brindley, Chair of our Local Governing Body.
The evening started by celebrating those who had been recognised by their tutor for their contribution during tutor time over the past 5 years.
Next, each of our Heads of Faculty were invited on stage to announce the pupils who had been nominated for Faculty Awards and then to congratulate the winners. In his introduction, Assistant Head Mr Bellamy stated that in receiving a Faculty nomination, that young person was in the top 6% of the year group, which is a massive achievement. As each young person came up on stage, they were greeted with rapturous applause. Our thanks to the audience who made the atmosphere so welcoming.
Following the Faculty nominations, there were awards for pupils who had been recognised for the Progress they had made, plus awards for Academic Achievement and, in addition, two pupils were presented with the Headteacher's Award - well done Lizzie S and Josh W.
Following the presentations, Sarah Orr shared words of wisdom with the Class of 2024, including the following: "Have a vision for where you want to go, be resilient in the face of challenges, and stay connected to your community. You're at the start of a great adventure and the decisions you make now will help shape the future you want."
