Primary Challenge 2024
Year 6 to Year 7 Transition
We were delighted to welcome 42 Year 6 pupils to our Primary Challenge Day on Wednesday 12 June 2024, and to officially fire the starting gun on this year's Year 6-7 transition! This event is specifically for Year 6s coming from schools where no, or very few, other pupils are coming to Deer Park in September, or perhaps they have just moved to the area, and it is an important part of our transition process, ahead of our Induction Days.
Pupils acquitted themselves extremely well, proving to be their own mini superheroes in PE, Science and Expressive Arts, whilst also making invaluable connections with new friends and acquaintances.
Pupils enjoyed some social time on the MUGA, and we are indebted to teachers Miss Blacker, Mrs Tipper and Miss Faux who, along with Mrs Ellison, Mrs Morley, Mrs Crew, Mrs Harris, Mrs Thorn, Miss Pobjoy, and a group of intrepid (new) Year 8 helpers provided great input, support and guidance throughout the day.
The Primary Challenge Day offers a priceless snapshot of life at Deer Park, for a specific group of young people, who benefit from the experience and the connections they make, ahead of the two Induction Days on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 July 2024, and their official start in September.
'I really enjoyed the sport and everyone was friendly. They even showed me what to do when I got off the bus this morning.'
'It's a 100 times better than Primary School. And the food looked delicious too!'
