Governing bodies have three main strategic functions:

• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and the strategic direction of the school;
• Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
• Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Following a recent skills audit of the existing Governing body, we have identified that we are specifically seeking people who have a background or skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Legal Expertise
• Finance
• Human Resources
• Marketing/Promotion/PR
• Knowledge of Special Educational Needs

We would like to invite any of our Parents or Guardians interested in becoming a Governor to an open meeting with the Head Teacher, Chair and a small number of Governors on Monday 26 September at 6.30pm. The meeting will take place in the school’s library and we expect it to last approximately one hour. At this meeting, we will reflect on the role of a School Governor, the time commitment required in being a Governor and how we will support you in this role.
