Graduate Intern Vacancies
Intervention Tutors - paid graduate interns
Having initially created a successful temporary team of Intervention Tutors in January 2021 (read more), we are seeking to recruit new members to our temporary team of paid Graduate Interns as Intervention Tutors to work and learn alongside our teachers and pupils for 30 weeks from Monday 1 November 2021 to Thursday 21 July 2022 during term time. This will continue to help us recover lost, and introduce new knowledge, strengthen understanding and accelerate our pupils’ progress.
Intervention Tutors have had a significant positive impact on pupils at Deer Park, specifically those pupils who need to close gaps in their learning as a result of the pandemic. Our tutors have been able to build confidence and success in the pupils they have worked with, many of whom were struggling to motivate themselves or doubted their ability to learn. From a focus on Literacy and Numeracy in Year 7 to preparing pupils in Year 11 for the GCSE assessments and exams, our tutors have used their background knowledge and skills delivered through our bespoke training programme which is informed by best teaching practice.
Comments from pupils helped by the tutors:
'I was worried about my Maths GCSE but my tutor has not only helped me to revise but I enjoy the subject more than ever.'
'I am more confident reading text books now that I was before.'
'I didn’t think I could do it but my tutor has given me confidence.'
Last year, our Graduate Interns proved to be very positive role models and they definitely added real value during their time with us. While one has gone onto train to teach and another to further study at Master's level, we are delighted that two have chosen to continue with us this year. However, we are now are seeking to make up the team and recruit recent graduates who are interested in education and making a difference to young people’s learning and life chances.
Chiquita Henson, Headteacher
We are specifically looking to recruit graduates in the STEM subjects, English, Humanities, Languages and Computer Science, but central to the roles will be the ability to communicate and model transferrable independent learning skills. This is a reciprocal proposition which will benefit both our pupils and the successful applicants. We are investing the government's catch up funding in these innovative posts. The successful applicants will work flexibly in school and online for around 25 hours a week.
As a high performing comprehensive school in the South Cotswolds, Cirencester Deer Park is committed to providing outstanding education and developing our staff.
Completed application forms should reach the school no later than 9am on Wednesday 6 October 2021 and interviews are provisionally set to take place on Tuesday 12 October 2021. We plan to offer successful applicants three days of initial training from Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 October 2021 to ensure our new interns are ready to start on 1 November 2021.
