Cirencester Deer Park School

Ofsted

ofsted logoOfsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. Ofsted reports directly to Parliament and is independent and impartial. They inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

Every few years the framework for inspections is revised and the bar is raised. When Ofsted judges a school to be good, Ofsted will normally go into the school about once every four years to confirm that the school remains good. This is called an ungraded inspection, and it is carried out under section 8 of the Education Act 2005.

Having originally been judged to be a good school in June 2013, we received ungraded inspections in May 2017 and, most recently, in January 2023, which confirmed that Cirencester Deer Park School continues to be a good school.

Key comments from Ofsted Report 2023

  • 'The values of ‘trust, kindness and determination’ pervade this school. Pupils welcome
leaders’ high expectations of their behaviour and conduct. They know that if they do not
uphold the school’s values, they will be challenged by staff.'

  • 'Parents and carers speak highly of the school. They value the communication they have
with leaders and the quality of education their children receive. Comments such as ‘I
couldn’t ask for a better school for my child’ were typical in Ofsted’s online survey, Ofsted
    Parent View.'

  • 'Pupils relish the opportunities to develop their talents and interests. The expressive arts,
for example, are at the heart of the school. Pupils speak with enthusiasm about events,
such as the school production and young musician competition. The biannual talent show is a popular occasion. Pupils enjoy celebrating the talents of their peers and of staff.'

This is a very positive report as it confirms that Cirencester Deer Park School continues to be a good school. However, we are not complacent and we know that we still have plenty of work to do to develop Deer Park further. The areas that we need to improve which were confirmed by Ofsted are already within our development plan which is driving the school forwards so that every member of the school community is able to be safe, happy and successful.

Parent View

Parent View gives you the chance to tell Ofsted what you think about your child’s school. Parent View invites parents who have children at the school, to respond to 14 aspects of their education, from the quality of teaching to how the school manages behaviour. Ofsted consider these responses when making decisions about which schools to inspect and at Deer Park we use the feedback our parents provide to this and other surveys to inform our own self-evaluation and planning for the future. Please click on the Parent View button below to access the Parent View website. In January 2023, almost 300 parents responded to this survey and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
