Ghana 2021 Fundraising

Christmas hamper raffle for Ghana 2021

Coronavirus is creating challenges for all sorts of group and individual fundraising in 2020. However, our Year 10 Ghana 2021 volunteer team continue fundraising for their trip next July with African Adventures.

  1. The team are encouraging sales of tickets for their Christmas Hamper Raffle. Parents and staff can buy tickets (£2 each or 3 for £5) via WisePay. The draw will take place on Wednesday 16 December 2020. Note: Raffle tickets are only available to individuals age 18 and over. Who will be the lucky winner? Will it be you? You have to be in it to win it!
  2. Our Year 8 Year Leader, Mrs Reynolds, and her Year 8 Craft Club girls will be creating impressive Christmas wreaths for sale to staff.
  3. Mrs Reynolds has also been making reusable fabric masks and a range of brightly coloured masks will be on sale early in 2021, ready to give us a boost of colour at a time of year when we may need a reminder of sunshine and warmth! See two samples below.
  4. Have you heard about our Ping Pong Ball Race? This fun fundraising event was originally run by one of our Ghana 2018 team and involved bulging bags of individually numbered balls and a narrow, steep driveway! Since then we had hundreds of numbered balls bouncing down the stairs from Ethics and Computing to English. The ball that goes the furthest wins a cash prize of £100 and you can buy as many numbers as you like. The Great Ghana 2021 Ping Pong Ball Race will take place in the Spring, with each ball costing £1. Look out for details early in 2021.

If you have any fundraising ideas that our Year 10s could work on early in 2021, please do contact Trip Leader Miss Bluett.

In Summer 2021, our group of Year 10 pupils will be travelling to Ghana, West Africa, to volunteer with African Adventures as teaching assistants, sports coaches and building and renovation workers. All of their work will be carried out in unfunded government schools in a rural fishing and agricultural community and our pupils will be working closely with the school staff and local community.
