Ghana 2020 Fundraising

Bag packing to raise funds

On Saturday 1 February 2020, 12 pupils from Cirencester Deer Park School offered to pack bags for shoppers at Tesco Extra in Cirencester as part of their fundraising efforts for their volunteering trip to Ghana with African Adventures this June.

Customers were really interested to hear more about the trip and the teaching and building activities that our pupils will be involved with while they are in Ghana. At the end of the afternoon session, the group had raised a total of £329.12, which will help each volunteer with their personal fundraising target.

Ethan: "I enjoyed talking to people and telling them more about the trip. It was a good total too and will help with my fundraising."

Shahara: "It was a good experience to share what we're going to be doing in Ghana."

Scott: "It was an opportunity to connect with the public and I was surprised by how generous lots of people were."

Our thanks to all at Tesco Extra in Cirencester for welcoming us.

The Ghana 2020 group will be continuing to raise funds with cake sales at Parents' Evenings in the next few weeks and will be selling refreshments at the performances of Grease the Musical. These events are good opportunities for our volunteers to talk with parents and pupils about their upcoming adventure - about their expectations and what is expected of them.

Do you like the idea of winning £100? The group are selling ping pong ball numbers for £1 each. Once all 1,000 balls are sold, we will race them and someone will be the lucky winner of £100! Ping pong ball numbers can be bought from Ghana 2020 pupils at Parents' Evening this term or from Miss Bluett in Humanities.
