Ghana 2020 Fundraising
Ghana 2020 fundraising update
In Summer 2020, 15 Year 10 pupils from Cirencester Deer Park School will be travelling to Ghana, West Africa, to volunteer with African Adventures as teaching assistants, sports coaches and building and renovation workers. All of their work will be carried out in unfunded government schools in a rural fishing and agricultural community and our pupils will be working closely with the school staff and local community.
What have we been up to so far? Participants have been fundraising, both individually and as part of a team. Team events include selling refreshments at parents' events in school (various dates since June 2019); cake sales (various dates since July 2019); Clubbercise Dance Workout (July 2019); The Cotswold Show (July 2019); Staff Car Wash (November 2019).
Team building and preparation sessions will start after Christmas 2019.
We have two upcoming team festive fundraisers, with all proceeds going towards funding the pupils’ trip and their work with the local communities in Ghana.

Ping Pong Ball Race
Have you heard about our Ping Pong Ball Race? This fun fundraising event was originally run by one of our Ghana 2018 team and involved bulging bags of individually numbered balls and a narrow, steep driveway! Last year we had over 500 numbered balls bouncing down the stairs from Ethics and Computing to English. The ball that goes the furthest wins a cash prize of £100 and you can buy as many numbers as you like. The Great Ghana 2020 Ping Pong Ball Race will take place in the Spring, with each ball costing £1. Look out for details early in 2020.
