Expressive ARts Events

Upcoming events organised by our Expressive Arts Faculty

The Deer Park Expressive Arts Faculty provides dynamic and exciting Music, Music Technology, Drama and Performing Arts lessons, giving pupils opportunities to learn in a completely different way to other subjects. Pupils studying these subjects at Key Stage 4 enjoy the opportunity to be creative, being introduced to technology that is used in their industry as well as having countless opportunities to perform. We also offer music tuition and run a variety of after school clubs, such as Dance, Choir, Steel Band and Guitar Ensemble.

We always encourage participation, diversity and imagination and have three upcoming events in school:

Spring Showcase

We are looking forward to the return of our Spring Showcase, taking place on Tuesday 26 March 2019 in the Main Hall at 7pm. This evening is a celebration of the items our pupils involved in our extra-curricular clubs have been working on. We are already really excited to see our pupils perform, some of whom were on stage in November last year at our Talent Show 2018.

Tickets available on the door: £3.50 adults, £3 under 16. We look forward to seeing you!

In 2018 our whole school production of Legally Blonde Jr in February meant that we held a Summer Showcase in June.

Young Musician of the Year

Our annual Young Musician of the Year competition takes place on Thursday 25 April 2019 in EA1. This supportive competition is open to pupils across the school, from Year 7  to Year 11 and celebrates the musicality of the piece as well as the technical ability. We look forward to seeing and listening to our pupils. Application forms are available from the Expressive Arts Office and entry deadline is Friday 29 March.

Young Singer of the Year

On Wednesday 1 May 2019, we will be hosting the 3rd annual Deer Park Young Singer of the Year contest. Auditions for the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 competitions will take place week commencing 11 March, with the final 20 singers announced on 18 March, giving pupils from Year 7 to Year 11 time to hone their performances.

Youth Market

On Wednesday 20 March the Youth Market returns to the centre of Cirencester, with local young people selling their wares in the Market Place, 10.30am to 2.30pm. Deer Park pupils will once again be manning a stall and the Expressive Arts Faculty will be taking a selection of bands and solo artists to perform in the Market Place to entertain the shoppers who will hopefully be buying lots of items from the various stalls. The programme will be a mix of modern pop songs and some classic rock and roll. Do come along to see us! Read about Youth Market 2018...
