Year 7 Rugby Festival
Year 7 Rugby Festival at Deer Park.
On Tuesday 2 October 2018, Cirencester Deer Park School hosted a very successful Year 7 District Rugby Festival. This year we had more teams than ever before:
- Cirencester Deer Park School A & B
- Katharine Lady Berkeley's School A & B
- Marling School A & B
- Cirencester Kingshill School
- Archway School
- Rednock School
- Thomas Keble School
- Sir William Romney's School.
The standard of rugby was excellent, with both Deer Park teams showing great energy and enthusiasm.
Mr Cumming, who coached the A Team, said “The A Team performed to a very high standard and improved with each game they played! They showed real determination to make effective tackles, resilience to keep hold of the ball at the break down and agility to run past opponents."
Axel from the A Team said “It was really good because our team played really well. It was a good challenge and really fun!”
Mr Young, who coached the B Team, said that the B Team showed “brilliant resilience and team spirit to continue playing throughout the festival.”
Joe from the B Team said “I found it fun because it because it was our first tournament. I found it really exciting and really enjoyed it”.
Cirencester Deer Park School showed real teamwork in the organisation and management of this Rugby Festival. Thank you Mr Webb and Mr Bonnie, who set the pitches up to a very high standard. Our thanks to Mr Bloomfield and two of our Young Sports Leaders, Ben and Theo, who organised the results efficiently and professionally. Mr Bellamy and Mr Young provided high quality coaching for the teams. Special praise too for our Rugby referees, including pupils from Years 9, 10 and 11, who showed great knowledge and understanding of the game, combined with assertive behaviour on the pitch, so that each game was officiated to a very good standard.
The next Year 7 Rugby Festival takes place on Saturday 13 October 2018 at Katherine Lady Berkeley School, 9.30am-12pm.
