July 2016
During Enrichment Week in July 2016 all pupils at Cirencester Deer Park School were off timetable and learning new skills, experiencing new situations and developing resilience, independence and confidence.
Each year we run an Enrichment Week for pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9, usually the first week of July. Enrichment Week is a key part of our promise to deliver "more than a visible curriculum and challenge all pupils to achieve more than they first think is possible" here at Cirencester Deer Park School. Year 10 pupils do their Work Experience during this week and by then our Year 11 pupils have finished their exams and left school.
Enrichment Week is an opportunity for all of our pupils to do something different and to learn outside the confines of the classroom. With a focus on personal endeavour, pupils learn how to adapt to new environments (cultural visits and work experience), take risks in supportive and safe contexts (abseiling and watersports) and perfect a range of new skills (communication and enterprise). Through each of the activities we place a strong emphasis on leadership and team building. These rich experiences contribute to creating their futures!

This term we launched Enrichment Week 2017. Year 7s will be taking part in Aim for the Stars and on Friday 9 December pupils in Year 8 and Year 9 found out what they will be doing during Enrichment Week next summer. More information will follow to parents next term.
As well as being great fun for all our pupils in Key Stage 3, the trips and activities have educational purposes that aim to:
- Give every pupil the opportunity to experience new situations outside of the classroom
- Widen pupils’ horizons
- Give pupils the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people
- Develop pupils resilience, independence and confidence
- Promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, social and physical development of pupils
- Prepare pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in modern Britain.
