Young Chefs
On Friday 2 December, Cirencester Rotary Club came to Deer Park to judge the local heat of their national Young Chef competition.
The two finalists were two of our Year 10 GCSE Catering pupils, Finn and Jo, both of whom prepared really thoroughly and practiced their dishes many times before the day. Jo and Finn had to prepare a three course meal for two people.
Highlights included pheasant salad with orange dressing, salmon and asparagus with sweet potato chips, venison steak with creamed celeriac and steamed broccoli, and mango sorbet. Both boys presented their food to a very high standard.
The judges said it was very difficult to choose who would go on to the next stage, but in the end Finn was judged to be the winner and he progresses to the District final in January. Well done Finn!
"It was a really exciting experience. It feels amazing to have won.
I'm getting ready to represent the county next year." Finn
