Enrichment Week 2024: off timetable and on site
During Enrichment Week 2024, (Monday 1 to Friday 5 July) a group of just over 40 pupils in (new) Year 9 and (new) Year 10 remained on the school site and took part in a range of sports, creative and problem-solving activities.
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the pupils took part in a carousel of activities designed to improve their teamwork with others outside of their regular peer groups, and offered a bit of friendly competition. Pupils made their own music videos, had fun with flame writing, played frisbee golf and football, and competed to build the highest tower with just spaghetti and sellotape as tools. Another popular highlight was gingerbread decorating, where pupils could enjoy designing (and eating) their artwork!
Despite a slightly rainy afternoon on Wednesday, the pupils were not deterred, and had a great time at the Cirencester Outdoor Pool.
Thursday was another high point of the week, when the pupils were lucky enough to spend the day with Into Nature in Hailey Wood. In the forest, they spent the day honing their bushcraft skills; mapping, building fires, making dens with hammocks as well as everyone's favourite task - making and eating smores!
On the final day of the week the pupils had a visit from a circus skills group, who demonstrated juggling, stilt walking, unicycles, diablo and much more! The staff were really impressed with the great perseverance that the pupils showed when learning a new range of these skills!
The whole week was a great opportunity for pupils to have new experiences and they did so with great enthusiasm. The staff involved commended pupils for their excellent behaviour and attitudes throughout.
Mrs Mabbott said: ‘The staff involved were fantastic and all worked hard to help make the week enjoyable and enriching for all of our pupils. It was great to see pupils trying something completely different, and embracing new challenges. It was really nice to see them having so much fun!'
