End of Term

A restful* Easter break!

A message from Headteacher Mr Clutterbuck:

Following last term's seven weeks of school, I did wonder whether, with this term being five weeks long, we would fit in everything that we had planned for February/March 2023. Deer Park has, however, yet again come good, with staff and pupils going the extra mile.

In addition to the timetabled lessons, breaks and lunches, staff and pupils have managed to navigate their way through:

  • PE fixtures;
  • Extracurricular clubs;
  • 3 days of strikes;
  • Year 11 Mocks and Year 9 End of Key Stage exams;
  • A Poetry Live! day;
  • External GCSE PE moderation;
  • GCSE Drama, Art and Textiles practical exams;
  • Year 11 Sixth Form interviews with some education providers;
  • Readathons for Years 7-10 in the PLC, raising £1,566 for Read for Good;
  • A Year 10 Music Technology trip to the Sub Rooms in Stroud;
  • A trip to Westonbirt School for our KS3 Debating team to take on KS4 and 5 pupils in the Model United Nations;
  • An extended assembly on 'County Lines' for Year 9 from a theatre in education group;
  • A Friends of Deer Park secondhand uniform sale;
  • A Non Uniform Day in aid of Comic Relief (raising £950);
  • Our annual Young Singer of the Year competition;
  • Year 10 and Year 11 pupils taking part in our inaugural Key Stage 4 Chess Tournament;
  • And, on the last day of term, the announcement of our next whole school musical!

I needn't have worried and I am indebted to the commitment and resilience of the staff and pupils here at Deer Park. Our values - of Trust, Kindness and Determination - have shone through in all that the school has achieved this term. And our Ofsted report was published on the Ofsted website.

Richard Clutterbuck and pupils at Cirencester Deer Park School

Thank you to families, staff and pupils for guiding the school through to the Easter break. I hope that you have a good break and I look forward to seeing everyone back in school at the usual time on Monday 17 April 2023 (Week 1).

* Year 10, make sure that you revise for GCSE RP Short Course (check SMHW for resources) and GCSE Statistics. Year 11, make sure that you revise for the full suite of GCSEs; you have all got this, so crack on and put some big dents in the revision timetables! In addition to the copy below, there is a copy of the Year 11 timetable on Satchel:One ShowMyHomework.
