Sports Day 2022 Report
In order to avoid the forecasted heat later in the day, the start of Sports Day on Wednesday 13 July 2022 was brought forward to start first thing in the morning. It was wonderful to see the whole school out on the field together again; in 2020 the event was cancelled and in 2021, in line with our Covid-19 restrictions, Sports Day was separated into 4 single year group events.
Pupils showed great respect and support to each other as they completed Track (100m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and relay) and Field events (javelin, shot put, discuss, long jump, triple jump and high jump). Each year group competed for their tutor group, trying to secure the most points for their overall total.
A number of Sports Day records were either equalled or beaten by pupils this year:
- Tom C - (new) Year 8 1500m - 5.05
- Willow KM - (new) Year 8 1500m - 5.45
- Willow KM - (new) Year 8 High Jump - 1.30m (equalled the record)
- Leo B - (new) Year 9 100m - 12.47
- Sam K - (new) Year 11 High Jump- 1.70m (equalled the record).
The final event of the day was the ever-popular pupils v staff relay race... just let it be said that the (new) Year 11 boys are very fast!
Top 3 Tutor Groups of each year are as follows:
(New) Year 8: 1st DO, 2nd TU, 3rd DE
(New) Year 9: 1st JE, 2nd DU, 3rd LI
(New) Year 10: 1st FR, 2nd NI, 3rd DO
(New) Year 11: 1st DU, 2nd FR, 3rd NI
Our thanks to everyone who helped make this annual event such a success, it really is a team effort. In particular, we would like to thank the PE Faculty, our announcers Mr Cook and Mr Reed, and the site team.
