Athletics Success

Year 7/8 District Athletics competition

On Wednesday 8 June 2022, pupils in our (new) Year 8 and Year 9 competed in a District Athletics competition at Thomas Keble School, involving all the local schools within the Stroud and Cotswold District.

Although our pupils have moved up an academic year at Deer Park, they still compete in their 'old' year groups: Year 7 Boys, Year 7 Girls, Year 8 Boys and Year 8 Girls. Archie W (new) Year 9: 'It was brilliant to come first out of all the schools! I did the Javelin and Triple Jump, and I am proud to have won the Javelin event and finished 2nd in the Triple Jump competition.'

Lily H (new Year 9): 'The athletics event was really well organised and felt very professional. It was fun to be a part of and I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to the Prince of Wales event next week.'

Mr Cumming, PE Teacher commented 'The Deer Park pupils were a credit to our school. They all performed to the best of their ability, showed a fantastic attitude and behaved brilliantly. I am sure this experience will help them in the future . It has been great to have events such as these back on the calendar after time away due to COVID.'
