District Athletics
Year 9 and Year 10 Athletics team
On Thursday 19 May 2022, the Cirencester Deer Park School Year 9/10 Athletics team were competing in a District Athletics event hosted by Cirencester Kingshill School.
Members of our team have been attending Athletics Club on Wednesdays after school this term, in order to perfect their technique or improve their time or distance in their event. They have all showed excellent commitment throughout the term and were really excited about representing the school.
On the day, there were many great performances and some outstanding results. Twelve local secondary schools entered into the competition and the Deer Park team came second overall! The final positions of our four teams were as follows:
- Year 9 Girls 3rd
- Year 9 Boys 5th (with some key performers missing)
- Year 10 Girls 3rd
- Year 10 Boys 1st.
A special mention too to the following pupils who won their events: Summer W (Year 9 Discus), Becky B (Year 10 Discus), Thomas W (Year 9 200m), Max B (Year 9 1500m), Ben H (Year 10 200m), James B (Year 10 400m), Will D (Year 10 Triple Jump), Alfie C (Year 10 1500m), Sam K (Year 10 High Jump) and the Year 10 Boys 4x100m Relay team!
In conclusion, this was a fantastic achievement, particularly as we haven't had the opportunity to compete as an athletics team for two years because of Covid-19. Well done to the team, you have made the school very proud!
