Comic Relief
Raising money for Comic Relief by holding egg and spoon races!
Our PE Faculty, like other faculties at Cirencester Deer Park School, were really pleased to return to face-to-face lessons with pupils once school reopened to pupils during week commencing 8 March 2021.
To celebrate the return, the PE Faculty felt it was vitally important to promote the importance of wellbeing, fitness and helpings others and decided that a perfect way to do this was to combine PE lessons with Red Nose Day and Comic Relief.
From Monday 15 to Friday 19 March 2021 the PE Faculty raised money for Comic Relief by incorporating egg and spoon relay races into their outdoor PE lessons. For the first twenty minutes of their lesson, Key Stage 3 pupils competed in races, either around our large astroturf or on the far playing fields, and then continued with their normal lesson activity, which at the moment is Hockey for the boys and Football for the girls. All lessons followed our COVID safety protocols.
Pupils were encouraged to donate to Comic Relief and follow in the footsteps of Jermaine Jenas and Alex Scott in performing the egg and spoon race. We raised over £100 cash, not including any online donations - thank you everyone!
There was a great deal of laughter, competitiveness and team support.

PE Teacher Mr Cumming said “It has been so pleasing to be able to see the pupils come back with such a positive attitude towards PE and learning. There has been a clear sense of excitement amongst the pupils about completing the Comic Relief egg and spoon relay races. It has also been great to see so many pupils donate money and want to help support the Comic Relief initiative.”
