Year 11 Learning Conference Summary

Oct 9, 2026

The science of learning, effective revision and future opportunities

This week we were delighted to welcome parents and carers of our Year 11 pupils to the school, for a presentation covering the science of learning, effective revision, supporting wellbeing and future opportunities.

We know that pupils thrive when the partnership between home and school is strong and aligned. In September 2024 the Department for Education released a review that looked at factors influencing pupil outcomes and the evidence showed that the ‘strongest effect of parental involvement is found in the oldest pupils in secondary school’.

We hope that the information and guidance shared during this conference helps you to feel supported, in supporting your young person through this key academic year. If you were unable to make the evening, you can find a summary (go to ‘Revision Support & Timetable’), plus a revision timetable and winter mock timetable on our Exams web page.

If you have questions or would like to speak to someone at the school about your Year 11 child, you can contact their tutor, or their Year Leader (Mrs Barnwell), or teaching staff if it is subject-specific. Our contact details can be found here.

Together we can provide our young people with the best possible chance of success in their exams and in the exciting opportunities that lie beyond them.
