We are proud to launch our new website. I am especially grateful to the team who have worked incredibly hard to bring it all together. We hope that you will find it easy to navigate and that the information we provide is helpful. Please bear with us whilst we iron out any initial creases. It is an evolving site: we will endeavour to keep it up to date, incorporate new features and continue to bring you news of the activities taking place at Deer Park and the achievements of our pupils.

This term our pupils in Year 11 are preparing for their final assessments and examinations. Similarly pupils in Year 9 will also be taking their end of Key Stage 3 Tests in English, Maths and Science in March before they move into Year 10 in June. Revision is a key focus and pupils will be able to achieve their very best if they retain positive mindsets and make the necessary efforts to work independently both in and outside of lessons. I encourage them to take advantage of the support and guidance provided by our teachers. We are currently planning our curriculum in Key Stage 4 to accommodate our pupils’ subject preferences, a process pupils in Year 9 completed last term.

We are looking forward to welcoming our new pupils for September 2016 (current Year 6) following National Allocations Day on Tuesday 1 March and beginning our induction process. We will also be hosting bespoke Open Mornings for prospective pupils in Year 5 and their parents in June.

The governors, leadership team and I continue to monitor the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and our pupils’ progress. As a part of our on-going and rigorous self-evaluation we routinely review our weekly Key Performance Indicators and we commission externally led annual reviews. We were pleased to see our strong Value Added confirmed in the recent league tables and on Tuesday 26 January, Suzanne Richards, a practising Headteacher and National Leader in Education, conducted a thorough internal review. She concluded Deer Park is ‘a school with huge strengths’.
