Paperless Reporting
All pupil reports are digital. They will be published for parents and carers via the MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) website or app, as per the reporting schedule below. Parents/carers will receive a full written report every year for each child. This report will have teacher comments addressed to the pupil, including next step targets and an effort grade. Effort grades are marked as EX (Excellent), GO (Good), IN (Inconsistent) and CFC (Cause for Concern). Alongside the teacher comments and the effort grade, all assessments which have been reported in the Assessment Feedback reports for each subject will be included to provide an overview of a pupil’s performance in the school year.
Assessment Feedback Reports
Instead of sharing two assessment results as we did previously, we have moved to Assessment Feedback reports. These will be at two fixed points in the school year (see the dates below).
KS3 Reporting of Assessment Scores
A summary of the assessment completed will be provided by teachers. To simplify matters, each pupil’s assessment result in a subject will be converted to a percentage score. Alongside this percentage score will be the year group average percentage score in that assessment. The teacher will also award an effort grade for the pupil. This keeps the reporting simple, understandable and consistent.
KS4 Reporting of Assessment Scores
A summary of the assessment completed will be provided by their teachers. The reports will show an up-to-date forecast grade for pupils, in both Years 10 and 11. Additionally, an effort grade for the pupil will also be awarded by their teacher.
Parents’ Evenings
In addition to a full written report and other assessments points in the year, there is a Parents’ Evening each year for all pupils. These provide an opportunity for parents to meet their child’s teachers and discuss any aspects of their progress. Parents are encouraged to contact individual teachers by email if they have any concerns.

Effort Grade Descriptors
| Indicator | Description |
| Excellent (EX) | This is for pupils who go beyond our expectations of what is reasonably required of them on a day-to-day basis. It is reserved for those who drive forward their own learning and do all they can to support and encourage the learning of others. |
| Good (GO) | This is for pupils who, consistently and without exception, do all that is expected of them in regard to the given criteria. |
| Inconsistent (IN) | This is for pupils who in the main do what is expected of them but fail to do so consistently: there are still areas where they can make improvements. |
| Cause for Concern (CFC) | This indicates that there are some significant concerns that need to be addressed as a matter of urgency. |
